Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will hold a news conference Friday afternoon before he departs Bangkok for the regional summit in Indonesia amid speculation that he will announce the dissolution of the House of Representatives during the news conference.

Mr Abhisit said that he has not yet submitted the royal decree of the House dissolution to the king, but said everything is going as planned.
"I always said that I will submit the royal decree of the House dissolution on the first week of May and I will do so," said the prime minister.

Mr Abhisit said he will hold a news conference Friday at 1pm.

It is speculated that the prime minister will discuss the dissolution of Parliament during his address.

The premier is scheduled to leave Bangkok for Jakarta late Friday to attend the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said that he believes Prime Minister Abhisit will submit the royal decree within the next one or two days.

Mr Suthep however said it is unlikely that the election will be held June 26 as earlier reported, adding it depends on the readiness of the Election Commission (EC).
